Board of Directors

The Australian Organic Board of Directors are elected by AOL members. There are currently five Australian Organic Board members, headed by one Chairman. We are proud to have a diverse Board, representing a range of organic industry sectors including; vigneron, retail, wholesale, poultry, livestock and manufacturing.

Martin Meek
Chairman

Martin Meek joined the Flannery franchise group of stores with Mal Flannery in 1993, where he was managing director and equal partner until 2008. He created the online store, Daintree Organics and holds a stake in United Organics, a certified organic fresh produce wholesaler based at the Brisbane Markets.

Bernadette Favis
Director / CO Sec

Bernadette Favis originally worked as a corporate lawyer and governance professional before she rediscovered her love of plant based oils and established Cocolife, a health food purpose driven company. Winner of the Young Organic Leader Award at the 2017 Annual Awards for Excellence, Bernadette Favis is recognised for her achievements and her sustainable outlook.

Sonya Dowling
Director

Sonya Dowling is Director of Australia’s longest established certified organic chicken and turkey producer, Enviroganic Farm. Sonya liaises directly with clients including Inghams and Woolworths. She believes it is vital the organic industry is well represented and has a united voice.

Iain Scholes
Director

Iain Scholes, Braemar Investments Group, has grown his family certified organic beef cattle business at Mena Park over the last 20 years. Alongside the day-to-day management of Mena Park, Iain oversees and manages all properties within the Braemar Investment Group, supplying Arcadian Organic & Natural Meat Co.

Jane Campbell
Director

Jane Campbell and her husband Ian founded Barambah Organics in 2002, a certified organic dairy business in South Queensland. Jane runs the production facilities in Darra and supports her husband on the dairy farms. Jane provides the Board with a level of Dairy industry experience not previously available, and is a strong advocate for farmers and the integrity of the organic industry.

Mike Brown
Director

Mike Brown and his wife Melissa own Gemtree Wines, an award winning certified organic winery in McLaren Vale, South Australia. Mike provides the board with a diverse level of wine industry experience ranging from viticulture and winemaking through to marketing and export. Over the past 18 months, Mike has helped guide significant outcomes as the Chair of the Vigneron Advisory Committee.
