Organic Industry Roadshow & Domestic Regulation Consultation

November - December 2026

Join the conversation on domestic regulation, industry priorities and the future of organics.

Australian Organic Limited (AOL) is launching a national Organic Industry Roadshow and Domestic Regulation Consultation this November and December.

The roadshow will bring together organic businesses, certification bodies, industry stakeholders and consumers to discuss key issues affecting the sector. A central part of each session will be AOL’s Domestic Regulation Consultation, where we will work towards industry agreement on the leading practical model for domestic regulation. That model will be put to government for its consideration as part of the scoping work recommended by the Senate Rural and Regional Affairs and Transport Legislation Committee in its inquiry into the National Organic Standard Bill 2024, which the Australian Government supported in principle in its April 2026 response.

The roadshow is also an opportunity to hear updates on AOL’s strategic priorities and industry roadmap, connect with others across the organic supply chain, and learn more about organic certification and conversion pathways.

Detailed event information and registrations will be released soon.

What is the consultation about?

Organic regulation has been discussed with industry many times over the past two decades, and that work has given us a clear understanding of what the sector needs. This consultation builds on it.

AOL will present a proposed model for regulating organic claims in Australia, developed from previous industry input and our ongoing engagement with government. We want to hear from businesses across the supply chain on how that model would work in practice, including the opportunities it creates, the challenges and costs involved, and any practical issues that need to be worked through.

Our aim is to take forward a pragmatic model that has been consulted nationally and has broad industry support, for government’s consideration. A clear and united industry position gives government the strongest possible basis for action, and the views you share at the roadshow will directly shape that position.

Insights gathered through the consultation will help identify industry priorities, understand areas of support and concern, and inform future industry and government discussions on protecting the integrity and growth of Australia’s organic sector.
