There are many ways that Australian Organic supports primary producers.
The Organic Classifieds are a great way to buy and sell within the organic industry. Whether you have certified organic grapes to sell, want to buy land or you’re looking for labour checkout the Australian Organic Classifieds. Members can list items for free.
Australian Organic’s certifying arm Australian Certified Organic is the most widely recognised organic logo in Australia. Its Bud logo gives businesses access to more export markets than any other certifying body. To find out about becoming certified go to aco.net.au or call 07 3350 5716.
If you’re a small producer ask about OGA. It certifies growers whose gross annual income from organic sales is $75,000 or less. It is a simplified certification program for businesses that don’t warrant a complex system for export and large scale operations. It suits growers who are starting out, selling produce to small retail shops or selling under box schemes and at farmers markets.
Organic farming inputs
As certified organic producers you have a lot of options available for pest and disease control or to improve the fertility of the farm or health of animals. Organic Farming Inputs lists the registered allowed products you can use. They are suitable for all organic farming systems regardless which certifying body you use.
If you are looking for technical information about growing organics the New South Wales Department of Primary Industries has some great resources available.
