Never underestimate the trouble a skincare or cosmetic manufacturer goes to to make a product that can be certified organic. It’s hard to find the approved ingredients – and enough of them – let alone create a really effective product.
The Sustainable Beauty Awards, by Organic Monitor, acknowledge businesses that care enough to go the extra mile to provide us with products that not only keep us looking great but also don’t harm us.
ABACHE ORGANICS won the Green Formulations category for its certified organic hair care range. This category acknowledges cosmetic brands with a high level of green ingredients in product formulations. ABACHE ORGANICS (owned by Greenlab Organics) has a laboratory and salon at Glenelg, South Australia. It formulates, produces and packages a full range of skin care and hair care products that are all certified organic.
Founder and formulator Peter Francis says, “We are proud to receive this first place world recognition for our hard work and consistent efforts to introduce high end hair care products with a sustainable and eco-friendly ethos.
“As pioneers in this field, we feel humbled by this nomination and strive to continue to deliver salon-perfect hair, with our eco-perfect promise.”
ABACHE ORGANICS products are naturally preserved using heat, sterile manufacturing practices, pH, extracts of fruits and plants, combined with food grade bacteriostatic and fungistatic actives. They’re made without biocide preservatives, artificial fragrances and are naturally fragranced with fruit extracts.
Certified organic products are not tested on animals. Pure & Green was awarded runner up for its zk’in skincare range.
The awards give recognition to organisations pushing the boundaries of sustainability in the beauty industry. Entry to the Sustainable Beauty Awards was by invitation and winners receive global exposure and industry recognition of their sustainability achievements.
About 140 international executives attended the Sustainable Beauty Awards reception at the Paris Marriott Champs-Elysées on 24 November. From about 100 entries, winners and runner-ups were selected per award category. Cruelty Free International won the Sustainability Pioneer Award.
